My work explores using formal compositional elements such as barriers and voids to convey loneliness and anxiety. My paintings almost always have a large empty space in the center, a wall to look around, or screen to look through. Figures are obscured by shapes and patterns, pushing the focus to the edges or just out of view, and thus conveying a sense of unease and isolation.
